What is the Pacific Rose Bowl Festival?
The Pacific Rose Bowl Festival takes place at Hamilton Gardens every November. The four-day festival is named after the trophy awarded to the winner of the New Zealand Rose of the Year Trials.
During these four days, we also provide entertainment and events for families and people of all ages to promote roses and horticulture to upcoming generations.
Voting
PubIic voting is the most unique aspect of the New Zealand Rose of the Year trials. The general public decide the winners of all categories by casting votes for their five favourite roses. A tally of the votes awards the winners. Unlike most other rose competitions around the world which are judged by a panel of experts, the New Zealand Rose of the Year has been judged by the public since 2004.
NEW ZEALAND ROSE OF THE YEAR AWARD CATEGORIES:
New Zealand Rose of the Year
Best New Zealand Raised Rose
Best Hybrid Tea Rose
